DescriptonAbolished slavery and involuntary servitude, unless as punishment for a crime. States that Congress has the power to enforce this article as an act of legislation.
All people born within the U.S. borders become American citizens. States cannot pass laws over a person's life, liberty, or property without due process of law or deny protection of the law to its people. Representatives are counted by a state's population not including the number of untaxed Native Americans. The voting age of 21 is established. States and U.S. government are not responsible for civil war debts or claims for the loss/emancipation of slaves. All races are allowed to vote. Voting cannot discriminate against color. |
